Inspiration: I love a good challenge. Part of this series is my attempt to examine the process of how I create, particularly to try to be more process oriented.
Often I try to make things perfect, or at least having a high level of craftsmanship. But it weighs me down and sometimes I get stuck. So I challenged myself to allow the process in creating these pieces to be as intuition based as possible. I wanted to create something that each step of the way, would be a new adventure for me, boldly going where my intuition whispered to go.
This piece led me to the thrift store where I found this awesome frame. And my intuition said to find a piece of woven fabric that would allow the frame to feel special too. I really love the idea of taking something that was once destined to be trash and turning it into treasure.
I tried to find fabric that had sparkles and twinkles, because metallic threads always evoke a specialness for me. And the best part? Just like how this frame was donated and abandoned, sometimes it's hard to let my special handspun scraps be thrown away. We had good times together, after all.
And like serendipitous magic, the Ruby Slippers yarn that I used in my Wizard of Oz shawl felt like it would do the trick to make the frame happy.
